As most of you know by now, Sage Rosenfels and Darius Reynaud were traded last Friday night to the New York Football Giants for a bag of dicks and some Jolly Ranchers. In reality it was a for two draft picks. One in 2011 and a conditional seventh rounder in 2012.
Well worth the trade I say, especially when you're trying to build a team that will self implode once your 41 year old quarterback finally decides to retire.
Let's get a couple of things clear here first. I don't particularly like Sage Ronsenfels. He looks extremely effeminate, and that makes me angry because I like my football players like I like my coffee; strong, black, and maybe imported from out of the country (I don't know what that means). But it was so far beyond obvious that Sage is the better quarterback than TarVar JumpPass, that only a blind midget wearing sunglasses with his arms tied behind his back who could only get the news by feeling the face of Brad Childress when the trade was made official couldn't have figured this out. This goes beyond his preseason performance as well. He's more experienced, he's seen a variety of different defenses in both the AFC and the NFC, he's worked with legit coaches who actually know how to attack in the West Coast Offense, and he doesn't speak to everyone with marbles in his mouth, 24/7.
But none of that mattered, because Sage IS a better quarterback than TarVar, and that's the problem. Resident dweeb at ESPN, Kevin Seifert, wrote about this topic last week as well, that since Sage actually outperformed TarVar this preseason, that was reason enough to send him trading. And I kind of buy that. Don't think that Brad Childress' insistence that Jackson always work with the one's and go against one defenses in practice and the preseason, and Sage with and against all the two's, wasn't his safe guard that was planned all along to explain why he traded Sage away. It was a convenient excuse of "opportunity" and "circumstances". In fact, Childress said this about Tarvaris:
"I would hope that if Tarvaris was in there going with the twos that he would have been able to light it up that same way"
Yeah, I would too, EXCEPT THAT HE WOULD NEVER LIGHT IT UP THAT SAME WAY. He's fucking Tarvaris Jackson, you idiot! What don't you understand about this?? Here's the thing. TarVar has had, what, four years to try to not look like a training bra'd bitch at a Bieber concert and he hasn't done shit. I don't care what he looks like in practice. It's fucking practice, and practice is stupid. I know for a FACT that in a real game situation, however, TarVar looks like a fucking mule. A mule trying to masturbate without thumbs. EEEYYAAAH, EEYYAAAHHH!! Fuck.
I don't like Sage. I don't really like TarVar. But clearly Brad Childress is the moron in all of this. The fact that he judges talent off of practice and throws game time examples out the window blows my god damn mind, Kurt Cobain style. And sure, the whole Reynaud thing is bothersome as well, largely because he's so versatile and provided assistance in places we needed help at, including punt returner and wide receiver. However it was a numbers game with him stuck behind the running backs and receivers, and keeping him around was never truly feasible. I GUESS I would call him a value trade then, and he's probably what netted the Vikings the higher 2011 draft pick, because we all know Sage wasn't the deciding factor.
Regardless, all this blame still falls squarely with Childress, and it's further evidence that we'll never be able to root for a winner as long as this asshole is around.
